Founded in 1758 Leesburg, VA still has many of the historic homes and buildings it had 250 years ago. Its proximity to the nation's Capitol, and the Potomac River make it a terrific community to live in today. Many people don't know that in 1812, Leesburg actually served as the temporary capital of the United States when the valuable papers of the Federal Archives (including the Declaration of Independence and the Constitution) were brought to town for safekeeping. With other enticing features, like being the gateway into DC's wine country, and just a short drive to the gorgeous scenery of the Blue Ridge Mountains, this little Virginia town is definitely a place on the map to stop and visit—and maybe even a place to call home.
